憂鬱症又稱抑鬱症,是一種常見的精神心理疾病,又稱為「心靈上的感冒」。患者一般主观上感到强烈的悲伤和忧郁,阻碍其正常生活和社会交往。
心理学上的忧郁症不同于正常范围内的情感脆弱或暂时的心情不好。它是一种由生理及心理精神因素所致的疾患。病情在任何年龄阶段均可出现,包括儿童。
憂鬱症患者常常可能會想哭、經常大發脾氣,心情總是不好,睡不好,吃也吃不好,每天胸口悶悶的,什麼都覺得煩惱,四肢無力,記性差,不能集中精神,做事緩慢,對什麼都提不起勁,沒有信心,常常想不開,更想尋死。有些症狀會與習得無助感相關。
